One of the biggest obstacles when trying to get in shape is finding motivation. Finding motivation when it comes to health and fitness is key to succeeding in your fitness journey. In this article I am offering up my top 10 motivation and fitness tips to help get you started.
I’ve learned that when it comes to finding motivation in anything in life, knowing your why can be a big help in keeping you motivated. Something so personal that every time you feel like giving up, you think back to your why and feel you would be letting whatever your why is down if you quit.
This is a very strong motivator because the last thing we want to do is let down someone we care about. Whether it be your kids, close friends, or even yourself. Having your why in mind will always keep you focused on the task at hand.
When setting goals, it’s important to always be specific. Being specific allows you to visualize what it is you are trying to accomplish and create a laser focus for your task.
Many times our goals are so vague, that we lose focus on what we are actually trying to accomplish. Even worse, we don’t even feel bad about it because it’s hard to feel bad about something that doesn’t seem that important.
When setting goals, it is important that you make sure that you can set a time frame for whatever it is you are trying to accomplish. As long as it is realistic, this will create an urgency for you to get it done.
This is probably one of my favorite tips. I’m amazed at how people who struggle to find success in life all have this one thing in common. They tend to have negative people around them.
No wonder many people who are successful use the saying, “you are who you hang out with.” This is true in so many ways, yet many people fail to follow through on these words.
People who are positive have an energy that flows to everyone around them, so it only makes sense to be around that same type of energy. You want to make sure you stay around those that inspire you to do better and hold you accountable if you ever fall off.
Creating a schedule helps create good habits. It creates a routine, that makes you feel bad if ever you broke that routine. For many people, they are so busy with things going on in their daily lives, that it’s hard to find time for things that are really important.
But what creating a schedule does is help organize your life and creates time through structure. Now I don’t want you to feel bad if ever you one day had to break the routine of working out, but creating a schedule is a great way to hold yourself accountable.
Now I don’t recommend you go on a shopping spree, but buying some new fitness gear can be a great way to feel good about working out. Fresh new gear can be a great way to start off fresh in your journey to health and fitness.
You just want to make sure you are buying the right kind a gear so you actually look the part. Not that you should really care what others around you think, but wearing gardening gloves while working out can make you look a bit out of place. So making sure you have the right type of gear is important.
There is nothing more motivating than jamming to your favorite tunes while doing a killer workout. You want to make sure you have the right music to help you get through your workout.
Making sure you have a playlist that is fast paced and upbeat is key to making sure you hit your workout hard. Music is a great way to feel good about your workout and help you have that invincible feeling every single time.
It is important to record your training so you can see how much you have progressed through the weeks and months. Seeing the numbers increase if lifting weights or seeing the number decrease in terms of time on a treadmill to complete a mile fun, can be very motivating.
Tracking your progress lets you know that whatever you are doing is working. There are many apps you can find on your phone to help you track your progress. Just have to make sure you find one that caters to the exercise you like to perform.
You would be surprised how useful a simple water bottle can be. Motivational water bottles are a great way to keep yourself motivated on your fitness goals. Whether your water bottle is time marked to help you keep track of when you need to be drinking your water, or has motivational quotes.
Having something that stays with you not only while you workout, but throughout the day, is a great way to stay focused on your fitness goals. Don’t underestimate the power a simple water bottle can have on how you attack your fitness goals.
Maybe one of the most important tips that can make the difference between you reaching your goals or not. We are so busy with our day to day activities, that it can be very difficult to find time to make sure you are eating the right food.
There is nothing more healthy than preparing your own meals. Unfortunately time is always a factor and there is always someone that can make your food for you. Thus leaving you with absolutely no control over what is being put into your food.
If you are having trouble with preparing your meals for the week, there are meal delivery services out there that may be able help. Services like Blue Apron, Plated, Home Chef and many more. Using these services can be a big help in making sure you find time to prepare a healthy meal.
After all your hard work, you deserve to treat yourself a bit. Treating yourself can be a good way to fight off the cravings that haunt us daily. You want to make sure you are responsible of course. If you are exercising regularly throughout the week and eating the right foods, then having a cup of ice cream is a treat well deserved.
When it comes to reaching your fitness goals, it’s all about looking yourself in the mirror and knowing that it all starts with you.
If you can visualize yourself being successful, then you are one step further to reaching your goals. Just remember to think about your why and follow my top 10 motivation and fitness tips, and you will be on your way to success in fitness.
