Two weight loss programs I plan on talking about in this article, both offer effective ways to help you lose weight. Noom Coach vs Weight Watchers. But which one would work best for you?
To answer that question, you first have to understand your habits when it comes to diet and exercise. Then after you figure that out, it’s important to compare each program based on those habits.
Below I compare each program and break down what makes each program different. Because although we know both are geared to helping you lose weight, each program offers a different way in which they go about doing that.

Maybe one of the biggest differences between both weight loss programs is the name recognition. Noom was founded in 2008, and Weight Watchers started in 1963. So weight watchers no doubt has the experience when it comes to helping people lose weight.
Although this is the case, I wouldn’t yet count out Noom as they are nicely building a name for themselves in the health and fitness industry.
Another thing I would say makes each program unique when comparing the two, is the way they go about counting calories.
Weight watchers uses a point system that makes counting calories easy. Noom keeps it simple by using regular calories to help you understand what you are putting into your body.

Which Program Is Easier To Use?
Noom – everything you do when it comes to noom coach will pretty much be done with your phone. Logging your diet and exercise, reading articles, and most importantly, staying in touch with your personal coach.
Noom makes logging and tracking your data simple with their free app. Within their food database, you have access to a wide range of food choices with calorie amounts next to each of them.
The foods are also color coded so you have an idea of which foods are good for your weight loss goals or not. This will make managing your calorie intake much easier as you progress through the program.
Weight Watchers – just like the noom program, weight watchers allows you to access everything from your phone. It also has an app that even allows you to sync it to any fitness trackers you may have.
So you can track and log all your diet and fitness needs with ease. And if you choose the coaching package, you will get access to unlimited 1 on 1 phone sessions which can be a big help for those that need it.
If the online method isn’t enough to improve your weight loss success, weight watchers also has live group meetings you can attend where you speak to other members. This will allow you to discuss any obstacles you may be going through.
Noom – There’s nothing complicated when it comes to how Noom tracks your calories when logging your meals. Not only do they break the calories down by each meal you eat, but they also break it down by food item.
For those that struggle with what to make on a daily basis, noom also provides you with healthy recipes to make managing your diet simple.
Each food item or meal has the calorie amount, along with color labels to help keep you aware of the food choices you’re making whether healthy or not. Feedback is also provided based on your choices, which will hold you accountable along the way.
Weight Watchers – uses a “smartpoints” system where the goal is to accumulate the lowest amount of points as possible when consuming your meals. Each food item or meal is assigned points based on how healthy it is.
Healthy foods are assigned lower points, whereas unhealthy food items are higher. With their program, you are given a point budget. This budget is based on calories goals, so it’s important to stay under that dietary budget.
Weight watchers has made some adjustments to their system by calling it the freestyle program. There have been a lot of debate as to whether it is effective or not due to its zero points foods system. I plan on going into more detail about in in my quick review.

Noom – noom does offer a free app that allows you to log your meals and activity. But if you’re looking to get access to a personal coach, then there are 3 different subscriptions you can choose.
You can go with the monthly subscription that will cost you $59 per month. The 2 month subscription which costs $49.50 per month, and the 4 month subscription which costs $32.50 per month.
Regardless of which program you choose, you get access to a personal coach, unless you just go with the free option which is just using the app. Noom does offer a 14 day free trial for those looking to just try it out before fully committing to the program and figuring out if noom is worth it or not.
Weight Watchers – there are 3 different packages for you to choose from depending on the type of service you want. The available packages are:

Each program is month to month, so you can cancel the program at anytime so that it doesn’t auto renew for the next month.
Having a variety of options lets you control the level of support you think you will need to be successful with your weight loss goals.
Final Verdict: And The Winner Is…
…Noom Coach, but barely
Although weight watchers has the name recognition in the health industry, Noom has the personal touch that I think is important to one’s success.
What I mean by that is, regardless of which program you choose, noom gives you access to a personal coach. Yes weight watchers offers a package where you can get a personal coach, but it comes at much higher cost to the user.
Now weight watchers does have the option to attend weight loss meetings, but life can be so busy, that you may find yourself not having time to attend them.
That’s why it’s important to have that person guiding you from wherever you are, and noom has that at a very affordable price.
When it comes to technology, both programs give you the tools to be successful. But sometimes losing weight is more than just healthy eating and daily exercise. Sometimes it takes that person holding you accountable.
Which is why I feel that having a coach so important. And since both a personal trainer and nutritionist can be expensive, the noom weight loss program provides you with just that without have to break the bank for it.
