If you’re familiar with the P90X program, then you know the workout which is led by Tony Horton, has a reputation of getting results. So there should be no surprise that there would be another workout that follows it.
Which is why I am writing this P90X2 Total Body Workout Review. I will be breaking down the difference between P90X vs P90X2, and how each program is geared towards getting you different results.
This is important because when it comes to our fitness routine, too many times we do things that are not geared towards getting us the results we’re looking for. So in this review you will be able to learn which program will work best for you.
What Is The Difference Between P90X and P90X2?
With the P90X workout, the goal of the program is to cause hypertrophy (build muscle). If you’re not familiar with how this works, hypertrophy is caused by tearing the muscle fibers in the body.
Then through rest, the muscles are then able to heal, allowing them to grow bigger. And ladies, don’t worry about getting bulky as the female body doesn’t produce enough testosterone for that to happen.
So the best way to tear muscle fibers is with resistance training, which the P90X program does a lot of. So you can expect to use weights and do quite a bit of bodyweight training.
Which is great due to the fact that many believe that resistance training coupled with cardio is the most effective way to burn fat.
Of course a healthy diet is necessary to achieve these results. But assuming that is being taken care of, then using this type of training can be very effective to getting results.
So when describing the P90X2 program, the focus will be geared more towards stability. Now there will still be exercises that help you build strength and muscles, but the focus will be mostly about strengthening your stabilizer muscles.
By using fitness equipment like medicine and exercise balls. You can also expect to use resistance bands which are great for building strength in your stabilizer muscles. Now if this doesn’t sound all that tough, trust me when I say, don’t take this workout lightly.
This workout will test you both physically and mentally. But if you’re expecting to get the results you may have gotten with P90X, I would tell you to temper your expectations.
Regardless, it’s important to strengthen your stabilizer muscles as it helps prevent common injuries that tend to occur during the wear and tear of working out.

Recommended Fitness Level
If you’ve tried out the P90X program, then you know that it can be pretty intense. It was designed for those that have experience with exercise and have a good level of fitness. So when it comes to P90X2, you can expect the same.
If you were able to complete P90X, then you should have no problem with getting through this workout. If you are someone that struggles with such workout, you may need to think about taking a less advanced programs like 21 day fix or Shift Shop by beachbody.
Duration of Workout
Just like its predecessor, this is a 90-day program where each workout lasts anywhere between 50-60 minutes long. So you can expect each workout to give you a good sweat and a lot of calories to be burned.
Regarding of fitness level, if you are someone that struggles with the intensity but still feel you want to take on the challenge, just make sure to go at your own pace. Continue to perform the exercises until you can build your body up to it.
This program has a 3 phase nutrition plan that is considered very basic, but effective. It is designed to complement your workout and get you the best results possible.
Some have asked if it is ok to deviate from the nutrition plan and go to another meal plan like 21 day fix. As long as you follow the recommended calorie count that came with the program, then it is ok to go with the 21 day fix meal plan.
Track Your Progress
Like always, tracking your progress is important when it comes to getting the best results. That’s why with this program, there is a worksheet that allows you to track your performance each time you workout.
The worksheet is almost like a calendar letting you know which workout will be performed each day. You can then write in your results in the space provided.
P90X2 By BeachBody On Demand
One of the most difficult things to do when choosing a workout program is committing to one due to fear of it not working out for you. You don’t want to end up purchasing a set of dvd’s only to find out that you are getting no results due to boredom.

Can P90X2 Work For You?
Let’s be honest, the only reason we want to try these workouts are for the results. So it only makes sense to ask can a program help get you those results. So when it comes to this P90X2 Total Body Workout Review, you want know if it is worth trying.
My recommendation is, if you have completed P90X, and are looking for something a bit different, then you should definitely try this program out. Stabilizer muscles may not be the sexiest thing to exercise, but it definitely helps prevent injuries.
