Which Machine Has A Better Stat Tracker?

Maxi Climber

Tracking your progress is crucial when it comes to getting results, and unfortunately the maxi climber lacks in this department.

Their very basic stat tracker design doesn’t provide much motivation when it comes to tracking stats.

They have a personal timer that starts and stops when you do, and also counts steps and calories.

Many have also complained about not being able to see the display unit while exercising, so this is something you want to be aware of when deciding.

Versaclimber

Compared to the maxi climber, the versaclimber offers many feature you would expect to see in exercise machines at your local gym.

Features that include, heart rate monitor, workout time, distance traveled, calorie burn rate and many more.

The display units is clear to see and is very up to date in terms of design.

This is a very cool feature for anyone that loves the technology aspect of exercise machines.

The maxi climber measures at 54 x 10 x 6 and 33 pounds. So unlike other exercise equipment, you should have very little issue moving it around the house. You will however need ceiling space of about 8 feet to use it.

The machine comes pre-assembled, so no worrying about spending hours trying to put it together.

With its easy fold system, you can store it in places like your closet or under your bed for added space. This makes it easy to put away after an intense workout.

Versaclimber

It’s clear when looking at the versaclimber that it has many features to enjoy while you workout. But with those features comes a pretty substantial price tag. Which makes sense for an exercise machine of this quality.

How Other Users Feel about Both Machines

Maxi Climber

If my words aren’t considered proof enough, amazon has almost 1900 reviews and almost 60% of those reviews are 5 stars. That is a tremendous amount of praise for a machine that many consider very basic.

But when you’re talking about value, customers see great value in the maxi climber, especially since you are able to still get great results from it. Which is the most important aspect of deciding on a particular exercise machine.

Versaclimber

You would think that a machine of this quality wouldn’t be hard to find reviews on, but even in a place like amazon, there are none to be found. In fact, as of today, they no longer have the product available to buy.

Benefits of Using Climber Machines

When it comes to looking for a good exercise machine for the home, it’s all about getting results. You also want to make sure that whichever machine you decide to get, will motivate you to use it daily rather than collect dust in your basement.

When working out on an exercise machine, the purpose is to have the body mimic a particular motion all in the comfort of your home.

Whether you are someone that likes to run or go for a bike ride, when you decide to get an exercise machine, you want something that mimics these movements.

What makes vertical climber machines so unique is how they mimic someone that is rock climbing.  Giving you a full body workout, thus helping you burn more calories.

Not only that, unlike the treadmill, vertical climber machines put no added stress on the joints. But what separates one vertical machine from the other?  We will discuss below.

Maxi Climber: Quick Review

When it comes to vertical climber machines, it’s hard to argue that the maxi climber isn’t the big player in the game.

With its durable steel frame and and easy to monitor tracking system, you can enjoy your workout safely.

Unlike other exercise machines, the maxi climber is known for its quietness while you workout.

If you are someone that likes to workout in the morning, then you know how important it is not interrupt others that may be sleeping.

You also don’t have to worry about it taking up too much space as you can easily fit it into most closets in the home.

Pros

5 adjustable height settings – we can all agree that when it comes to working out with machines, being comfortable is not only important for getting results, but most importantly safety.  The great thing about the maxi climber is regardless of your height, the maxi climber is able to adjust to whatever your height is.

90% pre-assembled on delivery – there’s nothing worse than trying to figure out how to put something together.  Even with directions, it can be a very daunting task.  The maxi climber is very easy to assemble as most of the assembling is done for you.  Therefore all you have to worry about is getting ready for an amazing workout.

Lightweight and Durable – what makes purchasing any exercise machine annoying is having to deal with moving it around.  The way the maxi climber is designed, it allows you to easily move it anywhere you feel like working out.  Also with its durable steel frame, you don’t have to worry about it breaking down with every use.

Cons

Weight limit – there is a 240 lbs weight limit when it comes to exercising on the maxi climber machine. Anything above that weight and you would need to be concerned about safety.  So before deciding to purchase this machine, it will be important to make sure you are under that 240 lbs limit.

Tension Adjustment – when it comes to fitness, being able to increase intensity as you get stronger is key to tracking your progress. Unfortunately with the maxi climber, there is no way to increase resistance on the machine as you get stronger.  You can however, buy weighted material like a weighted vests or ankle weights to help build more resistance while on the machine.

Versaclimber: Quick Review

I could easily end this review by just telling you how overly priced the versaclimber is, but I thought it would be nice to at least entertain you with some details.

If you’re looking for a full body workout, then you will definitely get one with the versaclimber.

This machine is great at tracking your results making sure you are burning those calories. Many will be turned off by the price since you get can the same results with other machines at a much more affordable price.

Pros

Total body workout – You can expect to get a great total body workout with the versaclimber, which is what makes vertical climbers so effective. Keep in mind the best way to burn calories is by doing workouts that work the entire body. The versaclimber is also great at tracking your progress which is helpful when looking to get results.

Cons

Cost – Regardless of all the benefits the versaclimber provides, the cost just doesn’t justify spending so much money on a machine. It’s hard to find reasons on why someone should pay such a large amount for a machine when there are more affordable options available.

  1. Ralph, how important is the resistance. I used the Versa at a gym and I always used the resistance to build strength. Adding weights to my body doesn’t seem convenient. BUT, the Versa is so high priced. I remember buying a more basic model like the Versa with resistance for a few hundred 25 years ago. I regret selling it. Are there any other vertical climbers out there with a resistance besides the Versa.

    • Hi Dave! Resistance is important depending on your goals. If you are trying to build muscle, then resistance is very important. But it’s only important based on how much muscle you want to build. And although the Versa is a quality machine, like you said, it is very expensive. Which makes the Maxi climber such a popular buy. Unfortunately with the Maxi, you are limited to the amount of resistance you can put on it. Your best bet would be to add ankle weights for some resistance. Yes there are other vertical climbers out there, but the most popular one is the Maxi due to its affordable price. I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. Take care.

  2. How do these compare to Jacobs Ladder?
I really like that machine.. I guess its for a gym but these are for home? But why not invest in a Jacobs ladder?

    • Hi Celeste! Ladder machines are really good machines, but like you said, it is probably more for a gym due to their size. I’m sure you could buy one for the home, but if you’re looking for convenience and affordability, I think the Maxi Climber would be a better option. Thanks for your comment.

  3. Ok well as an athlete myself I’m always on the look out for new training equipment. Both the Versaclimber and Maxiclimber sound like they have great benefits.

The Versaclimber sounds amazing for a full body workout, where as I love the fact that the Maxiclimber has 5 height settings because I have 4 flatmates and they are all a variety if heights lol. Also the fact that it is 90% assembled sounds helpful as well.

    Thanks for sharing this!

    • You’re welcome Marley!  I’m glad that you found this review helpful.  Both machines will definitely give you a good full body workout, but i’m sure the cost may be the deciding factor.

  4. I haven’t been working for the past year. It’s the first time that I have gotten so lazy at working out. I don’t know why that happened. Maybe I didn’t enjoy it as much as I should, as you mentioned. Whatever the case I’m better off starting again and I agree that exercising can assure a long and happy life. I don’t think that buing a machine will help me out, but you surely got my motivation rolling again. Thanks!

    • Hey John!  As long as you are finding ways to stay active, that’s the most important thing. The great thing about fitness is that there are many ways to enjoy getting in shape.  You just have to find something that motivates you the most. Good luck with everything John.

  5. The Maxi Climber vs Versa climber article is very informative indeed. It also gives one immediate decision making options without a lot of research from the readre’s part! The Maxi Climber would do it for me, considering that its highly adjustable and even cheaper! The durability factor is also very important; imagine where some members of the family have to use it… this means i wont be worried much about it breaking.

    • Thanks Charlson!  I agree that even though both machines can give you a good workout, the price of the maxi climber would make it an easy choice.  It is definitely durable, so yes you wouldn’t have to worry too much about it breaking.

  6. An interesting read. I know which machine I’d be investing in if I were looking for this type of workout. In general I prefer resistance training with weights as compared to machines. How similar is this climber workout to resistance workouts? I assume this is a body weight type workout?

    • You are correct Kevin!  These types of machines are pretty much body weight workouts.  If you’re looking to add some resistance, I would recommend adding a weighted vest.  Thanks for commenting.

  7. This is super informative! I love it, I’d never thought to compare the machines, you would think the more expensive would be what would get you the best results. Obviously in this case it isn’t necessarily true. Your comparison has definitely helped me in the decision making to possibly purchase a maxi-climber for a more affordable price, since I know I can get just as good results. Thanks 🙂

    • He Carly, I’m glad you found this helpful in your decision making process. The maxi climber can definitely get you results at a more affordable price compared to the versaclimber. Thanks for your comment.

  8. Thanks for the review on Maxi Climber and Versaclimber! I certainly wasn’t aware that such vertical climbers were available to consumers!
I looked at the reviews on Amazon for both equipment and it seems like it is a good investment. One biggest concern that I have is regarding the availability of space of have such a machine in my home. What are your thoughts about the size of the machines between the two options?

    • Hi Merrell and thanks for your comment! Both machines shouldn’t take too much space in your home. depending on the size of your closet, you could possible even fit it in there. Being that the machines are in an upright position, you shouldn’t have much trouble find room for it. Hope this helps.

  9. I have checked out your “maxi climber” on amazon, and it got me really interested. The reason is because I always liked the idea of wall climbing. It is a combination of endurance, and powerful strength training. It does look very intense, and it is most likely a calorie killer. Another thing I really like is that it can easily fit in a closet. To be honest, there’s really not much room in my apartment, so I really can’t imagine having a big machine sitting there. It doesn’t seem too expensive either. I will check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.

    • Hey Win! There are definitely a lot of benefits to using the maxi climber if you’re someone that prefers to exercise at home. It’s not like your typical bulky exercise machine that is not only expensive, but difficult to move around. With the maxi climber, it is easy to place and easy on the pockets. Thanks for your comment.

  10. Interesting read. I am a fitness enthusiast and I am always looking for new things that enter the market. I’m more into athletic training along with advanced movements. I feel like this is great for the average joe, trying to improve their fitness though!
What are your thoughts on elite athletes using these types of machines?

    • Hey Tyler! If you’re someone that is very active when it comes to fitness, then you may not find a need for a machine like this. For a lot of people, the gym is not a comfortable place to exercise, so an exercise machine is preferable. Hope this answers your question and thanks for your comment.

  11. I’m glad I stumbled upon your article! I had never considered a vertical climbing machine for exercise and after reading your article and looking at some of the links, I am now interested in trying one to see if it will be a good addition to my home gym. I have a good bit of equipment already, but a vertical climbing machine will add much more variety and seems much more efficient at burning calories than a bike or treadmill.

    • You’re welcome Dave! I think you’ll find that the Maxi climber will be a totally different workout compared to other machines you may have tried. Especially if you are someone that gets bored with running like I do.
