When it comes to losing weight, it’s pretty much as simple as managing your calories. Putting your body in a caloric deficit. In order to lose weight, all you need to do is burn more calories than you consume.
The hard part isn’t losing the weight, it’s having the discipline to put in the hard work that people struggle with the most. It’s either you’re not dedicating enough hours to your fitness, or lack the strength to maintain a healthy diet.
I will agree that sometimes this lack of discipline can come down to lack of knowledge. Which is why you need seek out those who have this knowledge to help you reach your fitness and weight loss goals.
So How Do You Burn Calories?
By being active that’s how. I think a big reason many look to start a low carb diet is due to the fact that they are not active. They know that losing weight is about reducing calories, so it only makes sense to eliminate or reduce the source of all those calories.
But in reality, what you need to do is burn those calories through exercise. And in order to have that energy to perform those exercises at your best, you need to consume a sufficient amount of carbs.
Carbs give you the energy to make sure you’re able to get through each workout. Don’t let a low carb diet be an excuse not to exercise.
The amount of times you need to attend the gym depends on your fitness goals, but at least 3 times a week should be efficient. Couple that with healthy eating and you should find yourself getting great results.
And if you’re someone that isn’t a big fan of the gym, then maybe you should try online workout programs to help you get active. Home workout programs are great for those that just can’t find the motivation to make it to the gym on a daily basis.
Why Carbs Are Important To Your Diet
A big reason why many diets attack carbs as the main reason for you weight loss struggles is due to the amount of calories they contain. So by removing those carbs from your diet, the thought is that you will be able to reduce your calorie intake, thus resulting in weight loss.
But what isn’t being mentioned is the energy that carbs provide your body to help keep you functioning at optimal levels. If you’re someone that find themselves tired a lot, lack of carbs could be a reason.
Earlier I mentioned that weight loss requires a combination of exercise and healthy eating. Carbs give you that energy to make sure you keep that activity level up throughout the day.
As long as you are making sure you’re consuming the healthy carbs instead of the unhealthy ones, you should be good. That means limiting your consumption of things like pastries and processed carbs, and shoot for things like grains, fruits and nuts.
How To Lose Weight In a Healthy Way
When I say healthy, what I mean is the amount of weight that is lost in a week to week basis. There are many diets out there that claim to help you lose so much weight in a short period of time.
The problem with some of these diets are they go about the process of losing weight in a unhealthy way. By reducing some of the healthy nutrients your body needs to function properly.
Or by not thinking about your long term weight loss success which is key to healthy living. You want to make sure the weight you lose stays off for good.
So a healthy weight loss number should be 1-2 pounds per week. Yes you may lose anywhere from 5-10 pounds initially when getting started, but long term success comes when you stay around 1-2 pounds each week.
And the best way to do this is by having a plan that focuses on daily exercise and eating the right foods for your body. A big reason many struggle is due to not knowing what needs to be done in order to be successful.
So whether you use a personal trainer or an online weight loss program, making sure you keep up with this resource will be key. Use it as a way to motivate and guide you to reach your weight loss goals.
