Insanity vs P90X Reviews – What’s The Difference?

insanity vs p90x reviews

Before I became heavily involved in fitness, I always struggled with putting on weight and building muscle. Even though I never had a problem with losing weight, I knew what it felt like to want better for yourself fitness wise.

So when I started to make fitness a priority in my life, like many do, I looked for ways to change my body for the better. I looked at gyms, workout videos, magazines, etc. Whatever I thought could help, I looked into.

Before I became the gym rat I am today, I can remember hearing about workout programs like insanity and p90x. Even though at first I thought they were designed for those looking to lose weight. But I saw how ripped everyone was and thought it would be a great place to start.

So I decided to compare insanity vs p90x and write this review. I thought to myself, even though i’m not looking to lose weight, maybe these programs could help me with things like building muscle and endurance.

More than likely you’re reading this review to learn if either of these programs can help you with weight loss. Luckily for you, I will go over that and more.

Because even though weight loss is an important goal for many, being happy with what you see in the mirror is even more important. And a good way to do that is by transforming your body into something better than it is now.

Key Differences Between P90X and Insanity

When choosing a workout program, based on your goals, it’s important to know what type of workout you’re dealing with. You want to know that you are selecting the best workout that will help you reach your goals as efficiently as possible.

Insanity

This is a 60-day program that focuses primarily on cardio for weight loss. Each workout is anywhere between 15-60 minutes long. There isn’t much weight that is used for this workout, so no need to worry about not having the necessary tools to exercise.

P90X

This is a 90-day program that focuses primarily on muscle building. You can expect each workout to be anywhere from 45-60 minutes long. There is quite a bit of equipment that is needed in order to perform this workout. Although you may be able to get away with not having everything and still get in a good workout in.

What To Expect From Both Workouts

The Insanity workout uses what is called Max Interval Training. It’s a workout that involves getting the heart rate up for a certain time period followed by short rest, allowing the heart rate to go back down. So you shoulddefinitely expect to sweat A LOT!

With the P90X workout, you are using both resistance and body weight training, coupled with cardio to break down muscle fibers to help build muscle and burn fat more efficiently. To me, this is the best way to transform your body more quickly.

Insanity Review

If you’re not familiar with Shaun T, then know that any workout involving him will more than likely be intense. His goal is always to get you in the best shape of your life. And if you follow his workout routine along with the diet plan, then no doubt you will get results.

The only thing you need to worry about is being able to actually handle the workout. Because I would be lying to you if I said that this workout was easy. But let’s be honest, transforming your body the way you want to should never be easy.

If you are able to follow the program consistently, you will definitely see your body fast decrease and weight loss as you will burn a lot of calories.

My only concern is the lack of resistance training which to me is key to efficiently burning body fat. This workout seems to be primarily cardio, and too much cardio can break down muscle.

Regardless of the lack of resistance training that is involved in this workout, you will undoubtedly get results with this workout if you put in the work.

P90X Review

If you asked people who they thought was the face of the beachbody brand, I can almost bet you that Tony Horton’s name would come up more times than not. What makes it even more amazing is the fact that the guy is almost pushing 60 years of age.

Clearly he’s doing something right.

I can remember when trying out P90X for the first time and seeing Tony’s face, I knew I was in for an intense workout. Before you even get started, you can expect him to provide much needed motivation to get your mind ready to get through the workout.

This workout does require a bit of fitness equipment like pull-up bars and yoga blocks, so do expect to have these on hand.

I think what I like most about this program is the fact that it uses both resistance and cardio training to get you results. Using this combination of training is one of the quickest ways for anyone to burn fat and build lean muscle.

As with any workout, it’s important for you to be consistent and follow the workout program to get the best results.

And for the women out there that are worried about building too much muscle, my advice to you is, don’t worry. Your body don’t produce enough testosterone to get bulky. You will most likely build enough muscle to get you that nice toned look…Read Full Review

P90X vs Insanity Workout – Which Is The Tougher Program?

When comparing two elite workout programs such as these two, people always want to know which one is the tougher program. My answer, both hare pretty tough to handle. You would easily be splitting hairs when comparing the two.

They both will require you to put your body through things it’s rarely been put through before. So if you are someone that is just starting with exercise, I would probably recommend you starting with something less intense.

Unless you like a challenge of course, then go for it. Just make sure to go at your own pace and make safety a priority.

But if I were to choose which program tested me the most, I would probably give the edge to Insanity. The reason is, cardio has always been a struggle for me, and insanity definitely tests your cardiovascular.

Final Thoughts

When it comes to getting in shape, having motivation and being consistent are necessary tools needed to get results. But for a lot of people, this can be difficult due to many people finding their workouts boring.

Regardless of which program you choose, I am confident that you will find neither program to be boring. Both Shaun T and Tony Horton are great at getting you motivated to workout. All you gotta do is follow the program and go to work.

Now I know with most workout programs, DVD’s are usually how they are sold, but beachbody now has and on demand feature called Beachbody On Demand that allows you to have access to all of their workouts.

So no longer do you have to worry about which program to choose, or losing DVD’s in your home. You can complete either program and once you are done, you can move on to another without having to make another order.

If you’re interested in trying out their On Demand feature, you can try it out Risk Free For 30 Days. Giving you a real opportunity to compare Insanity vs P90X, and see which one works best for you.
