After you have selected your plan type, they will then ask you for some information about yourself and the recipient. Like first and last name along with email addresses.

There is even a little box where you can even write a personalized message for the person you are sending it out to.

If you decide to have the gift sent by email, blue apron will then ask you for the date of when you would like the person to be notified of this gift.

This gives you control of when and how you would like your gift to be sent out. After you have made your order, your gift will be ready to go.

  1. Hi Ralph,
I have heard a lot of advertisements about blue apron and after reading your article, I think it would make a nice gift. I know a lot of people are trying to be healthier and cooking your own meals is a good way to be healthy, as eating out is challenging when you are on a diet. I do wish they had vegan options – do you know if they plan to offer vegan and low-fat options?

    • Hey Patricia! I also wish they had some sort of vegan option as I have a lot of vegan friends who would love to try out blue apron. Unfortunately I haven’t heard anything about blue apron having that as an option. Will definitely make an update if I ever hear anything about it.

  2. Never knew Blue Apron had a gift option. Its a great idea! I know I would appreciate such a thoughtful gift. Especially if they aren’t the type to cook, it would be a good introduction… maybe for college students or young adults just entering the working world, who are so overwhelmed with life that they live on pizza and McDonalds lol.

Thanks for sharing! You’ve definitely given me some ideas.

  3. Hey Ralph,
Great little review on blue apron.
I must admit as far as gift ideas go this is a new one on me, I hadn’t heard of blue apron until visiting your site. Do blue apron do specialist meal plans for people with different dietary requirements such as vegetarian or people with nut allergies for example?

    • Hi Paul,

Blue Apron doesn’t offer any specific dietary plans with the exception of their 2 Person Vegetarian Plan. So if you are a vegetarian, you should be ok. As far as allergies goes, blue apron does provide allergen information on their labels 3 weeks before your shipment. Although blue apron works hard to ensure that all food is prepared safe, there ingredients are prepared in a facility that also process milk, egg, fish, nuts, shellfish and soy milk. Because ingredients are packaged and shipped together, there is a possibility that ingredients come in contact with each other. So blue apron recommends that if you have an allergy, it’s probably best not to order from them. Hope this helps.

  4. Hi, Ralph! What a great review and a fantastic gift idea. This sort of gift would be a great one to someone who has pretty much everything and is hard to give to. I would also consider this gift to a busy mom who needs to catch a break now and again. And for hated question: “What’s for dinner?” she’ll answer with a smile: “Blue Apron!”. Sweet!!
I will definitely keep this in mind for friends who are near and far!
    Katya.

    • Hey Katya! Thanks for commenting. You are right, busy moms especially have so much to worry about when it comes to dealing with daily chores that it can be hard come up with what to cook and then actually find time to cook. As someone who tends to cook his own meals from time to time, cooking is a lot of work and I commend anyone that is able to do it daily. Blue apron is definitely a great service to give anyone a nice break from the cooking grind.

  5. I was wondering what exactly is Blue Apron? This article describes how to order but it doesn’t tell me what kind of food is in the box. Can you choose what is sent? Is it just ingredients and then you have to make the meal? Is it healthy, organic food? I have a website on living healthier so I am very curious what they offer. Thanks!

    • Hi Danielle! Those are all great questions you have! This article was written based on the assumption the person already knows about blue apron and was wondering how to give it as a gift. If you are interested in learning more about blue apron, I have written an extensive review on it. you can access the article here https://jitterfitness.com/blue-apron-reviews-best-

Thanks and I really appreciate you commenting!

  6. I’ve never heard of Blue Apron before! But now I’m curious, what type of food is it? Is it arriving already cooked or with assembly required? I know I love when I get food as a gift, as it’s something I’ll obviously use. I’ll have to look into this for upcoming birthdays, thanks for the info!

  7. Blue Apron looks so easy for gift giving. I can give a gift of 1 week, 2 weeks, or 4 weeks. This is a great idea for a new mom or a growing family when they are busy taking care of the new baby, too. What types of wines does Blue Apron offer? ~ Tam

    • Hey Tam! Yes Blue apron lets you choose how many meals you want send. This is especially helpful for busy moms since they barely have time to think. Blue apron offers Pinot Noir, Pax, Viognier to name a few.
