Shaun T Insanity Workouts vs The Gym – Which Is The Better Workout

Shaun T Insanity Workouts vs The Gym – Which Is The Better Workout

Which Method Works Best?

So you’re trying to decide between Shaun T Insanity Workouts vs The Gym. Which one will do a better job at getting you in shape?

To really answer this question, it depends on a few things like motivation, knowledge of fitness, budget costs, etc.

But before I get into answer those questions, I want to make one thing clear.

Depending on the person, home workouts can be just as effective as going to the gym. There are many people that go the gym and still fail to get the results they’re looking for. Fitness is about finding what works best for you.

Below I will answer the questions that I posed above when it comes to things like motivation and costs.

This will give you a better idea of the differences between a well known program like insanity, and the gym. Which can offer you variety when it comes to your fitness needs.

Shaun T Insanity Workouts vs The Gym

Insanity

  • Can workout in the comfort of your home
  • Workout comes with meal plan
  • Can Stream on Favorite Devices
  • 15-60 min Workouts
  • Flat fee for the entire year

The Gym

  • Can workout as long as you want

Equipment

Shaun T Insanity

For those that worry about having clutter around the house. The insanity workout requires no equipment to be used. It is a 60 day cardio based total body workout that gets you results by burning the most amount of calories possible.

Although this is a cardio based program, you will be working on other things like strength, power and resistance moves that will help you build out lean muscles. There are also core workouts to help you get the coveted 6 pack.

The best part about all of this is that there is no need for any equipment. All you need is your body which for many can be helpful when it comes to joint pain. As weights can cause added stress to it.

The Gym

The great thing about the gym is you have every tool imaginable at your disposal. The hardest part is figuring out how to use them all. But this is definitely a plus when it comes to working out at the gym.

You don’t have to worry about having all this clutter in your house. Everything you need to complete your workout is there for you at the gym.

There are also gyms that have luxury items like saunas and massage chairs. These are just some of the benefits of having a membership at your local gym.

Motivation

the word success

Shaun T Insanity

If you expect to workout to any beachbody program like insanity, more than likely you will be doing this from your home. So the thing you always have to worry about is finding the motivation to actually workout.

If you are someone that really struggles with this, you could find yourself skipping out on your exercise. So it’s important that you create a schedule that you plan on sticking with, to make sure you are consistent with your workouts.

The good thing about beachbody workouts like insanity, is they come with a workout calendar to help keep you on task.

Once you are able to get the workout going, I have no doubt that Shaun T will be able to get you motivated throughout the workout.

The Gym

When it comes to motivation, the gym has its positives and negatives. Compared to insanity, the one positive about the gym is that you have to actually get out to go. This in itself could be taken either as a pro or con.

Because you know that you have to go to the gym to perform your workout, this gives you that sense of accountability to yourself. At the same time, if it’s a day where you’re not really up for working out, it can be easy to psych yourself out of going.

But once you get there, seeing others working out gives you some motivation to get stuff done. How intense you go is up to you. But these are some of the things that you have to keep in mind when it comes to the gym

What makes the beachbody brand so popular is the fact that they have a great system for getting people in shape. Regardless of your goals, they have a system in place to help you reach your goals as efficiently as possible.

If you are looking for a cardio program, they have that. If you are looking to build muscle, they have that as well. Not only that, but they have meal plans in place to complement your workout routine.

So when performing the insanity workout, you know that you are getting a system that is designed to help you get the results you’re looking for.

Being that this is a 60 day program, it gives you an idea of how long it will take for you to start seeing results. This is key to creating a lifestyle that lasts for the long term.

The Gym

When it comes to the gym, you are pretty much on your own unless you have a buddy to workout with or hire a personal trainer. Both can be effective, but with a buddy, you’re not sure if you will be getting the best advice. And with a trainer, it will cost you a bit.

This for many can be a huge factor in the type of results you get from attending the gym. Now you could find some program off the internet that peaks your interest, but then again, it’s not a program that is personally customized for your fitness needs.

If you choose not to do either, you could easily be one of those people that just attends the gym just to go on the treadmill, since it’s the easiest thing to do. But more than likely, you won’t get the results you’re looking for.

Membership Fee

piggy bank

Shaun T Insanity

Most people are used to purchasing the insanity workout dvd either on the beachbody site or on amazon. It can usually cost around $130 dollars for the set. The good thing about this is, it’s a one time cost.

The bad thing however, is that there is always potential of either losing or damaging the dvd’s. Which could ruin your whole workout routine as you progress.

What’s the solution to this?

The Beachbody On Demand feature. Which allows you to stream not only the Insanity workout, but 600 plus other workout videos of your favorite beachbody trainers. You also get a personalized meal plan as a member of beachbody.

The cost of the this membership fee is $99 for the entire year. This is will save you money and worry from having to purchase the dvd’s, and will save you much more in gym membership fees as you will see soon.

If you’re not sure about trying the on demand feature beachbody has, they allow a 30 Day Risk Free Trial. If you don’t like it, you can request to get your money back.

The Gym

Depending on where you live, you can expect to pay anywhere from $10-$50 a month on membership fees. Which would come out to $120-$600 for the entire year.

Now if you consider yourself a hardcore gym goer that utilizes everything the gym has to offer, than this could be seen as a pretty good deal for you. But like most people, many have a membership, yet fail to go on a consistent basis.

And regardless if you go or not, the gym continues to take their fee every month. Obviously this is a waste of money and does nothing when it comes to you getting results.

So you definitely have to be honest with yourself and not be that person that has a membership just so people know that you have one. That is a lot of money being taken away.

Does The Insanity Workout Work?

If you’re looking to lose weight and muscle for that nice toned look, if you follow the program the way it’s designed, I am confident you will see good results.

The intensity of the workout allows for you to burn a lot of calories which is key to losing weight. But a more efficient way to lose weight is building muscle. Which is what makes the resistance training involved in this workout so great.

By combining both resistance training and cardio, you will burn fat and lose weight at a more efficient rate.

Does The Gym Work?

weight plates

There’s no doubt that the gym works, but it’s what you do at the gym and the consistency that matters most. And because of this, people struggle getting any results when it comes to getting a membership.

See the one thing that many don’t know about the gym is, they know that most people won’t make it to the gym. Which is why they don’t concern themselves with making sure you are getting results.

All they care about is making sure you pay your membership dues every month.

So if you’re someone that knows exactly what they need to do in the gym to get in shape, then it will definitely work for you. But if you’re just getting a membership just to get one, then more than likely you’ll just be wasting your money.

Summary

Determining which method is best for you is dependent on knowing yourself.

If you think you would see better results with Shaun T Insanity Workouts vs The Gym, then it’s important to understand you will have to motivate yourself since you’ll most likely be working out at home.

The gym is a great place for those that have a good idea of what they need to do in order to get in shape.

You may be a little surprised in what you learn about both workouts, as there are some notable differences in what they are trying to accomplish. Although both workouts are still 90 days and 60 minutes long, P90X2 definitely tries to accomplish more than just muscle building like P90X does

What To Expect With Both Workouts

With the P90X workout, you should expect to use a lot of equipment that will help you build leaner muscles. Many people think that doing a lot of cardio is the best way to get results, but that is not always the case. Mixing in both cardio and resistance training is the most efficient way to get the results you are looking for.

With the P90X2 workout, expect to use things like stability balls, medicine balls, and foam rollers to help bring more stability to the muscles that are not all that visible. You may think that this isn’t important to you, but this is really helpful in preventing common injuries that can occur during exercise.

P90X Review

tony horton p90x

If you’ve used P90X before, then you already know what you’re getting with this program. For those that haven’t, if you are someone that struggles with finding motivation when working out, then you should have no issues with finding motivation for this workout.

Tony Horton who is the trainer does a great job at getting you ready to workout. He brings a lot of intensity and guides you through the workout from an experienced point of view. This total body workout will definitely help you build muscle in all the right places.

P90X2 Review

tony horton p90x2

The original P90X workout was more about building muscle, and P90X2 is more about strengthening your stabilizer muscles. This helps prevent common injuries that many people incur during most physical activities.

A big reason people like to neglect this type of workouts is due to it not being so noticeable. We all love to see results when it comes to our body, so it only makes sense for us to look for workouts that will do just that.

But when you suffer those nagging injuries that tend to happen from exercise, like joint pain, or lower back pain, lack of stability is a big reason for that. So with the P90X2 workout, the goal is to help you develop stronger stabilizer muscles and improve your core.

By keeping you off balance using medicine balls and resistance bands. If this sounds easy to you, try performing a couple of one legged squats on a BOSU ball and let me know how you feel afterward. So please don’t take this workout lightly

P90X vs P90X2 Workout – Which Is The Tougher Program?

I’m sure by reading the quick reviews, you can see how each workout varies in what they are trying to accomplish. One is about building muscle and getting you that nice lean look, the other is more about strengthening your stabilizer muscles.

But if I were to choose which is the tougher program, depending on your fitness level, I would have to go with P90X2. A big reason for this is due to the mental struggle one will go through trying to perform each exercise.

For me resistance training is manageable for me since i’ve been doing it for a while now, and this is what P90X is about. But with P90X2, it’s not the resistance that is difficult, it’s the mental aspect of fighting the burn you feel when performing each workout.

So not only do you have to get past the physical part of this program, but also the mental. Now this is usually the case with any exercise program, but for one that focuses primarily on stabilization, it can be even more difficult.

But if you are someone that has already completed the P90X program, then stepping up to P90X2 would be a good way to go.

Now if you’re still trying to decided if you should purchase another set of workout dvd’s, what if I told you there is a way to get both workout programs and more? Workouts like 21 day Fix, 22 Minute Hard Corps, Core De Force and many more.

What To Expect With Both Workouts

Getting results is all about pushing yourself more than you are used to. So when it comes to Insanity Max 30, you should expect to do just that. As this workout is geared towards you beating your best time. I will get more into this in the review, because I really love the concept this workout program is using.

When it comes to the P90X workout, you should expect to use quite a bit of equipment. A reason for this is due to the type of training that is involved in this workout. Since building muscle is about tearing muscle fibers, using equipment that can help add to that resistance, can help give you better results.

Insanity Max 30 Review

When it comes to improving your health with exercise, the goal is always to get better. Whether you are trying to obtain a personal best with your running or lifting weights, progress is achieved through tracking. And this is the main goal of insanity max 30.

If the name didn’t give it away already, this workout is all about you beating your personal best. From the moment you press plan, you will be asked to record your max time for each workout.

Me being a personal trainer, tracking results is key to knowing where my clients stand in terms of progression. Also the fact that you are given a workout calendar, makes tracking your workout times even easier.

The calendar allows you to know exactly what you will be doing each day you workout to Insanity Max 30. So no need to worry about what to do next when it comes to your fitness routine.

You are also given a nutritional guide that tells you what you need to eat in terms of nutrition. Basically the sheet will let you know when you should be adding protein, veggies and fruits to your daily diet.

If you are a beginner when it comes to exercise, then you may want to hold off on this workout. Tony Horton who is the trainer is as intense as it comes with any beachbody workout. But if you like a challenge, then you are sure to get it with P90X.

I think the best part about this workout that other workout programs fail to achieve is the motivation you get from the start. Getting in shape is all about finding motivation and being consistent, and this program does a great job at both.

Many people like to focus on just cardio alone, but if you are trying to get that nice toned look, then you need to incorporate some resistance training. If you can combine both cardio and resistance training, you can burn more fat and build muscle more efficiently.

This is why I am such a big fan of the P90X workout. It has everything you need to help you reach your goals in a healthy and effective way. They even include a meal plan which is a necessary complement to any workout program.

And now with Beachbody on demand, they make accessing this program more convenient.

But if I had to choose, I would have to go with P90X due to the duration of the actual workout. Not only that, but the fact that there is resistance training to go along with cardio, I promise you your body will feel it after the full 60 minutes.

Now this is not to say that Insanity Max 30 won’t get the job done, because trying to max yourself out each workout is no easy task. But if I am being honest, then P90X is definitely the tougher workout. But i’m confident you will enjoy either one.

insanity-vs-tapout-xt

What makes fitness fun is the same thing that makes fitness so stressful. Knowing that there are so many tools out there to get you results, keeps the mind always interested. At the same time stressed due to not really knowing what will work best for your body.

So when looking for ways to get in shape, we turn to things like gyms, trainers and workout videos, hoping to find that magic pill. Which has lead me to writing this Insanity vs Tapout XT review.

Many want to know what’s the difference, and which workout program will get them the results they’re looking for?

Like always, it’s important to figure out your goals. Once you are able to do that, then it’s all about searching for the program that will help get you those results. So when reviewing these two programs, it helps to know what the differences are between them.

Key Differences Between Tapout XT and Insanity

If your expectations of these two workouts were that they are easy, then you definitely need to alter those expectations. Getting results is all about pushing your body more than normal, and both these programs do just that. But what’s the difference between the two?

Insanity

Here you have a 60 day workout program whose main goal is weight loss. So you can expect there to be a lot of cardio, mixed with some body weight and core training.

Each workout is anywhere from 15-60 minutes long, so there’s definitely variety in each workout. Great for anyone that tend to get bored with their workouts.

Not only can you access the workout via DVD, but you can now enjoy your workouts with Beachbody On Demand feature. So this is great for anyone that has a habit of losing their workout dvds.

Tapout XT

This workout is also a program whose main focus is cardio for weight loss. This program runs for 90 days where each workout is 40-50 minutes long. But what makes this program fun, is the type of training you can expect with Tapout XT.

The workout involves MMA type training. For those that are not familiar with the meaning, MMA stands for mixed martial arts. As a former kickboxing instructor, this type of training along with boxing are some of the best exercises for conditioning.

Although you don’t get to punch bags, you can expect each workout to be pretty intense especially when trying to learn all the different types of punch and kick combinations.

What To Expect With Both Workouts

There is no equipment that is required for the Insanity workout. So you could expect there to be a bunch of bodyweight movements to burn off those calories. This workout uses a Max Interval training system that is all about getting the heart rate up.

You are given time to rest so that your heart rate can go down, but it is minimal. This type of training ensures that you burn the most amount of calories possible. Therefore a lot of sweat is bound to occur.

When it comes to the Tapout workout, the most difficult thing other than finding time to breath, is learning all the different combos. Your body will be doing things it has never done before, so in the beginning it may feel awkward to you.

But as you continue with the reps, you will find yourself adapting to everything fairly quickly. There’s even an instructional video to help you get familiar with the combos before getting started. So no need to worry about being overwhelmed out the gate.

Insanity Review
insanity workout

Most people that are familiar with the insanity workout, know that it is lead by Shaun T. And anyone that is familiar with his training, knows that he is usually known for his cool dance moves.

Well when it comes to the insanity workout, there is no dancing involved. Every move you do will be done to get you burning the most amount of calories.

And even though this workout is mainly cardio, you will also be doing some resistance training.

Which is great because getting amazing results requires more than just cardio. You need muscle building along with cardio to burn fat more efficiently.

When starting the program, you are asked first to perform a fit test. Where you will be asked to do a certain amount of push ups and other exercises in a certain amount of time. This will give you an opportunity to see where you are before starting the program.

This program involves exercises like plyometrics, abs and resistance training. So as you go through the program, as you get stronger, you can perform the fit test again to see how much you have progressed.

Tapout XT Review
tapout workout

When people hear mma or kickboxing, they usually think of fighting. So it’s easy to understand how one can be intimidated when they are asked about trying it out as a form of exercise.

There’s a reason boxers are considered some of the most conditioned athletes out there. It takes a lot of training to be able to compete with someone in a ring for 12 rounds.

So it only makes sense that when trying to get in shape, why not train the way boxers train. Minus the fighting of course.

So when looking into this workout program, I was amazed to actually see professional fighters instructing. By looking at their movements, you can tell that they knew what they were doing.

As someone that used to kickboxing for exercise, it wasn’t very difficult to learn the moves. But for those with no experience, learning the movements will no doubt be the toughest thing to learn.

But like with anything in life, it’s all about getting those reps in. the more you do it, the more your body adapts to it. So my advice would be not to get discouraged when it gets awkward…Read Full Review.

Tapout XT vs Insanity Workout – Which Is The Tougher Program?

When comparing workout programs, everyone always wants to know which program is tougher. To be honest they both will give you a run for your money. Both will get your heart pumping and have you begging for oxygen.

But if I had to give the edge to which program kicks butt, I would probably have to give a very slight edge to Tapout XT. If for any other reason than the movements involved in this workout.

Performing martial arts move can be very difficult for a lot of people, so trying to mastering everything this workout has to offer is tough. But you really would be splitting hairs when it comes to either workout. Both will challenge you big time.

Final Thoughts

Regardless of your fitness goals, finding a workout program that will get you results not just for the short term, but for the long term is essential. Finding a program that will not only make you sweat, but also keep you consistent is key to sustaining those results.

So if I were to summarize each workout program, I would try to do it in a way that helped you think about the long term. Because that’s what fitness is about. It’s about making lifestyle changes that last a lifetime.

What would I recommend?

Tapout XT will no doubt get you amazing results. It is both intense and fun, which will help keep you motivated during the 90 days. My only issue is what will happen after those 90 days are over?

Because like I mentioned before, fitness is about sustaining the results for the long term. And my fear is that after the program is over, you will either be looking for another program, in which you will have to purchase another set of dvd’s.

Or you may just find yourself going back to your poor habits which will get you feeling bad about yourself.

Now the same could be said for the Insanity program if you decided to purchase the dvd set. But insanity is part of beachbody, and beachbody has an on demand feature which gives you access to over 600 workout programs, including Insanity.

So when you’re done with one workout, you don’t have to worry about which program to get. You have access to them all on any of your favorite devices.

So this is definitely something to think about when deciding which program will be best for you. Because when you think about Insanity vs Tapout XT, knowing the differences is key to really getting the results you’re looking for.

Before I became heavily involved in fitness, I always struggled with putting on weight and building muscle. Even though I never had a problem with losing weight, I knew what it felt like to want better for yourself fitness wise.

So when I started to make fitness a priority in my life, like many do, I looked for ways to change my body for the better. I looked at gyms, workout videos, magazines, etc. Whatever I thought could help, I looked into.

Before I became the gym rat I am today, I can remember hearing about workout programs like insanity and p90x. Even though at first I thought they were designed for those looking to lose weight. But I saw how ripped everyone was and thought it would be a great place to start.

So I decided to compare insanity vs p90x and write this review. I thought to myself, even though i’m not looking to lose weight, maybe these programs could help me with things like building muscle and endurance.

More than likely you’re reading this review to learn if either of these programs can help you with weight loss. Luckily for you, I will go over that and more.

Because even though weight loss is an important goal for many, being happy with what you see in the mirror is even more important. And a good way to do that is by transforming your body into something better than it is now.

Key Differences Between P90X and Insanity

When choosing a workout program, based on your goals, it’s important to know what type of workout you’re dealing with. You want to know that you are selecting the best workout that will help you reach your goals as efficiently as possible.

Insanity

This is a 60-day program that focuses primarily on cardio for weight loss. Each workout is anywhere between 15-60 minutes long. There isn’t much weight that is used for this workout, so no need to worry about not having the necessary tools to exercise.

P90X

This is a 90-day program that focuses primarily on muscle building. You can expect each workout to be anywhere from 45-60 minutes long. There is quite a bit of equipment that is needed in order to perform this workout. Although you may be able to get away with not having everything and still get in a good workout in.

What To Expect From Both Workouts

The Insanity workout uses what is called Max Interval Training. It’s a workout that involves getting the heart rate up for a certain time period followed by short rest, allowing the heart rate to go back down. So you shoulddefinitely expect to sweat A LOT!

With the P90X workout, you are using both resistance and body weight training, coupled with cardio to break down muscle fibers to help build muscle and burn fat more efficiently. To me, this is the best way to transform your body more quickly.

Insanity Review

If you’re not familiar with Shaun T, then know that any workout involving him will more than likely be intense. His goal is always to get you in the best shape of your life. And if you follow his workout routine along with the diet plan, then no doubt you will get results.

The only thing you need to worry about is being able to actually handle the workout. Because I would be lying to you if I said that this workout was easy. But let’s be honest, transforming your body the way you want to should never be easy.

If you are able to follow the program consistently, you will definitely see your body fast decrease and weight loss as you will burn a lot of calories.

My only concern is the lack of resistance training which to me is key to efficiently burning body fat. This workout seems to be primarily cardio, and too much cardio can break down muscle.

Regardless of the lack of resistance training that is involved in this workout, you will undoubtedly get results with this workout if you put in the work.

P90X Review

If you asked people who they thought was the face of the beachbody brand, I can almost bet you that Tony Horton’s name would come up more times than not. What makes it even more amazing is the fact that the guy is almost pushing 60 years of age.

Clearly he’s doing something right.

I can remember when trying out P90X for the first time and seeing Tony’s face, I knew I was in for an intense workout. Before you even get started, you can expect him to provide much needed motivation to get your mind ready to get through the workout.

This workout does require a bit of fitness equipment like pull-up bars and yoga blocks, so do expect to have these on hand.

I think what I like most about this program is the fact that it uses both resistance and cardio training to get you results. Using this combination of training is one of the quickest ways for anyone to burn fat and build lean muscle.

As with any workout, it’s important for you to be consistent and follow the workout program to get the best results.

And for the women out there that are worried about building too much muscle, my advice to you is, don’t worry. Your body don’t produce enough testosterone to get bulky. You will most likely build enough muscle to get you that nice toned look…Read Full Review

P90X vs Insanity Workout – Which Is The Tougher Program?

When comparing two elite workout programs such as these two, people always want to know which one is the tougher program. My answer, both hare pretty tough to handle. You would easily be splitting hairs when comparing the two.

They both will require you to put your body through things it’s rarely been put through before. So if you are someone that is just starting with exercise, I would probably recommend you starting with something less intense.

Unless you like a challenge of course, then go for it. Just make sure to go at your own pace and make safety a priority.

But if I were to choose which program tested me the most, I would probably give the edge to Insanity. The reason is, cardio has always been a struggle for me, and insanity definitely tests your cardiovascular.

Final Thoughts

When it comes to getting in shape, having motivation and being consistent are necessary tools needed to get results. But for a lot of people, this can be difficult due to many people finding their workouts boring.

Regardless of which program you choose, I am confident that you will find neither program to be boring. Both Shaun T and Tony Horton are great at getting you motivated to workout. All you gotta do is follow the program and go to work.

Now I know with most workout programs, DVD’s are usually how they are sold, but beachbody now has and on demand feature called Beachbody On Demand that allows you to have access to all of their workouts.

So no longer do you have to worry about which program to choose, or losing DVD’s in your home. You can complete either program and once you are done, you can move on to another without having to make another order.

If you’re interested in trying out their On Demand feature, you can try it out Risk Free For 30 Days. Giving you a real opportunity to compare Insanity vs P90X, and see which one works best for you.
